Incredibly the Tawainese tea industry is only 200 years old. The perfect climate and terroir, together with the skills of migrants to Taiwan kicked off the industry, but the key long term success factor was Taiwan’s decision to focus on oolongs [semi-oxidised] teas in order to compete on the global market.
