Now the world’s largest tea producing area, Assam lies either side of the Brahmaputra River in Northern India. Assam tea is made only from the Assamica variant of the Camellia Sinensis tea plant.
The tropical climate of the area creates a greenhouse-like effect, that contributes to the unique maltiness of these black teas.
